Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking submissions from the community regarding a draft Unmaintained Roads Policy which is currently on exhibition.

It is estimated that there are around 400 unmaintained roads in the Wingecarribee Shire which are primarily used to access private properties.

At the last ordinary meeting of 2012 on 12 December, Council considered a report in regards to the responsibility for unmaintained roads and resolved to publicly exhibit the draft Unmaintained Roads Policy.

The draft policy covers the following aspects of unmaintained roads:

  • Maintenance responsibility
  • The process and conditions/criteria relating to upgrading these roads by landowners and developers – and possible takeover by Council.
  • The process and conditions relating to requests for Council’s contribution to upgrades and possible takeover by Council.

All residents are invited to comment or make a submission on this policy. These should be made in writing via email, fax or letter by 4pm Thursday, 28 February 2013.

A copy of the draft policy is available on Council’s website www.wsc.nsw.gov.au or can be viewed at Mittagong, Bowral and Moss Vale libraries.
