A local company has been awarded a contract to repair the collapsed section of Wombeyan Caves Road by Wingecarribee Shire Council.

The land slip occurred east of Langs Road, approximately 11kms west of Goodman’s Ford, following heavy rainfall in January 2015.

Work will involve the construction of a large rock retaining batter, installation of a new stormwater pipe culvert and construction of a concrete stormwater causeway.

Preparation work has already commenced however due to the nature of the construction activities, Wombeyan Caves Road will need to remain completely closed to local and through traffic at this location from Wednesday 7  October to Wednesday 11 November 2015 or until the works are finalized, subject to favourable weather.

It is recommended that visitors to Wombeyan Caves take the alternative route via Goulburn and Taralga. Access to Goodman’s Ford campground will still be available via Wombeyan Caves Road.

Council apologises for any delays or inconvenience.
