Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Children’s Services has exceeded national quality standards in a recent review of their out of school care service.

Overseen by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), the National Quality Standard sets a benchmark for early childhood education and outside school hours care services in Australia.

Council’s Coordinator of Children’s Services, Melissa Lefterys explained the significance of the assessment.

“It helps families to make informed decisions about the services providing education and care to their child.”

Over two days in July, a representative from the NSW Education Department assessed Wingecarribee Out of School Hours Service (WOOSH) against seven national quality areas including children’s health and safety, leadership and service management.

Meeting all seven of the quality areas and exceeding in four, WOOSH received an overall rating of ‘Exceeding in National Quality Standards’.

“This is a fantastic outcome,” said Ms Lefterys. “This rating would not have occurred without the support of all parties instrumental in delivering this service to the families within our community.”

“It goes without saying that this would not have been possible without our dedicated team of staff who go above and beyond to deliver exceptional service,” she continued.

“It’s a privilege to be part of these children’s lives and an honour that our efforts are rewarded with such a positive outcome.”

Wingecarribee Out of School Hours Service has been operating for 22 years.
