Bowral pool to host Family Fun Day
Wingecarribee Shire Council will host its annual Family Fun Day this Saturday 1 December at Bowral Pool.
The wet and wild fun kicks off at 10am and finishes at 3pm.
Activities planned include a BBQ, supervised pool games and water safety sessions including CPR demonstrations.
Council’s giant inflatable pool toy – The Whale Tail – will also be on duty.
Cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family pass (2 adults and 3 children). Standard admission including season passes will not be accepted during the special event. Council reminds swimmers that both Mittagong and Bundanoon pools will also be open during the day for other general purpose swimming.
Money raised from the event will be donated to Swim Kids Operation 10,000, a joint initiative developed by UNCLE TOBY’S and The Royal Life Saving Society to help teach underprivileged children vital swimming, personal survival and basic rescue skills.
“Whilst the day is primarily about having some fun, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for kids and their parents to learn about the importance of safety both around the pool and in the home,” said Council’s Pools and Facilities Supervisor, Tannia Andrews.
“All money collected from the day will go towards providing free or subsidised swimming and safety lessons to 10,000 of our most at risk children with the aim of reducing our tragic national drowning statistic.”
