Bookings open for Seniors Festival
Wingecarribee Shire Council is now taking bookings for this year’s 2017 Seniors Festival.
Council’s Ageing and Disability Officer, Nicola Robson is encouraging participants to join the celebrations by booking early.
Events planned for this year’s celebrations include the ever-popular Mystery Bus tour, concerts, a bicycle workshop, aqua and exercise classes, barbecue lunch and morning teas, movie screening and a Positive Ageing Forum to be held at the Mittagong RSL Club.
“In total we’ve got over 20 events planned for this year’s 10-day festival,” Ms Robson said. “We’ve definitely got something to suit everyone.”
Festival events kick-off on Friday 3 March with a screening of the film ‘Lion’ at the Empire Cinema in Bowral. On Tuesday 7 March participants can attend the Positive Ageing Forum and discuss opportunities and choices in maintaining health and lifestyle as you age. The following day sees ‘Coupe and the Roosters’ perform their unique blend of blues, folk and gypsy jazz at the Bowral Memorial Hall while the Southern Highlands Concert Band will perform their show, ‘Radio Daze: Pop Explosion’ on Sunday 12 March.
“All of our events are extremely popular and we’ve deliberately chosen a wide variety of events and activities,” Ms Robson said.
“We definitely recommend that anyone thinking of joining us check out the program beforehand and make their bookings as soon as possible to secure their place.”
Online bookings can again be made this year via Council’s website.
“We know more and more older people are confident computer users and this will allow them to browse events at their leisure and at a time that is convenient for them,” Ms Robson added. “However we’re still more than happy to take bookings over the phone.”

Booking confirmations will be emailed immediately for events booked online. For bookings made over the phone, confirmations will be posted from Wednesday 22 February 2017.
