Wingecarribee Shire Council has confirmed an unexpected find of non-friable bonded asbestos at the Highlands Golf Club located on the Old Hume Highway in Mittagong.

The fragments of asbestos were found away from the public course in the internal access driveway adjacent to the utility area.

The immediate area is currently being secured to ensure access is restricted.

Council has notified the relevant regulatory bodies and will continue to liaise with them as appropriate.

Council will continue to work with the Highlands Golf Club and a qualified occupational hygienist to ensure an appropriate Asbestos Management Plan is implemented.
