Tulips Time to expand after dark
Wingecarribee Shire’s 2022 Tulip Time celebrations are set to shine after dark when the festivities return in September this year.
The announcement of an extended evening program for Tulip Time follows an injection of $74,595 in funding secured by Wingecarribee Shire Council from the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund.
Council’s Director Corporate Strategy and Resourcing, Carmel Foster said the extended program would help rejuvenate the famous floral festival.
“We’re confident that extending the hours of Tulip Time’s central display in Bowral’s Corbett Gardens will entice guests to stay overnight and explore some of the other delights the Highlands has to offer,” she said.
Ms Foster said live music and a bar serving local wines and drinks would also be installed in the gardens for the duration of the evening program.
“The addition of these extra activities during Tulip Time will not only showcase the iconic gardens after dusk but help promote the Shire’s fabulous produce, arts and culture,” she said.
“It will also provide a shot in the arm for the local economy in the wake of fires, floods and the pandemic.”
Tulip Time 2022 will feature over 75,000 massed planting of tulips and be held over 18 days from 16 September to 3 October 2022.
Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith said he looked forward to this year’s 61st anniversary celebrations.
“Covid unfortunately shut down a lot of events and activities so I’m glad to see the magnificent Tulip Time festival flourishing in full bloom,” he said.
Harbison will also join this year’s celebrations as the official Charity Partner.
