Tough Mudder

The Southern Highlands is set to welcome some of the country’s toughest athletes as it gears up to host Tough Mudder Sydney-Southern Highlands over the weekend of the 15 and 16 November 2014.

Wingecarribee Shire Mayor, Councillor Juliet Arkwright said the announcement by Tough Mudder Australasia to host their latest event in the Wingecarribee Shire was welcome news.

“This internationally renowned event is set to showcase our Shire in a whole new light,” Councillor Arkwright said.

“Our region is known for its stunning beauty,” she said.  “But as of mid-November, thousands of new visitors will associate the area as being tough as nails!”

Joining Mayor Arkwright for the announcement was Tough Mudder’s General Manager – Australasia, Jeremy Kann.

“We’ve been busy scouring the state for a new and improved location for our Tough Mudder Sydney event,” he said.  “And we are extremely excited to unveil the Southern Highlands as that location.”

“The area is packed full of steep cliffs, rolling hills and thick Aussie bush.

“It’s the perfect setting for us to take this year’s Tough Mudder event to the next level.”

“Our course designers have been hard at work designing and building new challenges and surprises to maximise this unique terrain and we can’t wait to unleash the new course,” Mr Kann added.

The all new Sydney-Southern Highlands course is expected to be the most epic Tough Mudder yet with a host of new challenges set to test the team work and camaraderie of participants.  ‘Mudders’ at the Southern Highlands event can expect to tackle a 20km military-style course designed by British Special Forces with exciting new obstacles including the ‘Leap of Faith’, ‘Pole Dancer’  and ‘Hangin’ Tough’ obstacles.  The event will also feature some old Tough Mudder favorites including the greased-up quarter-pipe ‘Everest’ and the 10,000-volt-charged ‘Electroshock Therapy’ finale!

“Whether it’s your first or tenth event, Tough Mudder is always a challenging and rewarding experience,” Mr Kann said.

“We’re encouraging everybody to gather their friends and family and join us in the Southern Highlands and together unlock a sense of accomplishment unlike anything else.”

Mr Kann will join Mayor Arkwright at Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre on Thursday 15 May for an official Memorandum of Understanding signing.
