The Highlands Theatre Group’s production of Anne of Green Gables has found a new home at Chevalier College’s Performing Arts Centre.

A total of five shows are scheduled to run from Thursday 21 November to Sunday 24 November 2019.

The new venue and re-scheduling of the production is the result of the closure of the Mittagong Playhouse in October following the discovery of a structural fault in the building.

Council’s General Manager Ann Prendergast thanked the Highlands Theatre Group and Chevalier College for assisting with the relocation.

“We know the timing of the closure caused huge disruption for performers and patrons,” she said.

“However the Highlands Theatre Group deserves full credit for remaining positive and flexible.

“I would particularly thank the Group’s President Steve Cheers for his cooperation and understanding.”

Ms Prendergast also acknowledged the assistance of Chevalier College.

“Chevalier College have been wonderfully accommodating and I thank them for making their new Performing Arts Centre available at such short notice,” she said.

Details of the limited season theatre run of the classic children’s novel can be found at the Highlands Theatre Group’s website at www.htg.org.au.

Ms Prendergast said Council would continue to work with the Highlands Theatre Group to ensure the relocation ran as smooth as possible.

“I encourage all residents to support the Highlands Theatre Group and attend what is sure to be a wonderful end of year production of Anne of Green Gables.”
