Temporary closure of Range Road overbridge, Mittagong

5 March, 2015

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) has informed that they will be temporarily closing the rail overbridge located on Range Road in Mittagong between Tuesday 24 March and Saturday 28 March 2015.

The closure is to enable essential repairs to take place on the timber overbridge.

The repairs are necessary to maintain the bridge’s working order, ensure ongoing access and improve public safety.  Works will include removing the bridge’s existing bitumen surface, repairing the decking and re-sealing the surface with new bitumen.

Subject to weather conditions, the overbridge will be closed to all traffic – including pedestrians – from 6am Tuesday 24 March to 1pm Saturday 28 March 2015. This period may be extended should inclement weather affect the project.

The overbridge is part of the NSW Government’s rail infrastructure program across the country rail network with works to be undertaken by TfNSW’s contractor, John Holland Rail (JHR).

Traffic controllers will be onsite during the week-long closure with detours in place via Ferguson Crescent and Bessemer Street, Mittagong.
