Station Street construction works resume

9 January, 2023

Construction works on Station Street in Bowral will recommence on Monday 9 January 2023.

The resumption of construction activities follows a pause in works over the Christmas period.

Works will be undertaken between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays and involve re-surfacing of the road pavement activities.

Traffic controllers will be stationed onsite during construction and Variable Message Boards will be erected alerting motorists in advance of the changed driving conditions.

During this time Station Street will be restricted to northbound traffic only.  Southbound traffic will be temporarily unavailable.

To enable reconstruction works to safely proceed, vehicular access from Wingecarribee Street to Station Street will be temporarily closed during this time.

To expedite the project night works will begin from Monday 16 January 2023.

In addition, reconstruction works on the northern carpark pavement located within the Bowral Train Station precinct will also begin from Monday 30 January 2023.  Restoration activities within the train station’s historic Camelia Garden will continue concurrently during this time.  These works include new kerb and guttering, repair of stone walls, installation of improved lighting and pedestrian access.

Weather permitting the Station Street pavement rehabilitation, Camilla Gardens and northern carpark improvements are all expected to be complete and reopened by April 2023.

Commuters and motorists who normally use the northern carpark are advised to use the newly opened southern carpark during this temporary closure.  This carpark can accommodate 140 car spaces.

Pedestrian access to shops, businesses and the train station along Station Street will be unaffected and remain open.

To minimise traffic congestion, reconstruction works scheduled for nearby Old South Road will start in the north enabling the section of road from Merrigang Street to Range Road to remain open until Station Street has fully re-opened to two-way traffic.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks retailers, motorists and residents for their continued patience.
