Stage 2 – Merrigang Street road works

10 March, 2020

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that road works are scheduled to commence on Stage 2 of the Merrigang Street project from Monday 16 March 2020.

Works will include the construction of new stormwater drainage, sections of kerb, guttering and footpaths and the reconstruction of the existing road pavement which will be finished with an asphalt surface.

These works follow recently completed water main renewal and gas and telecommunication relocation works.

Construction will be carried out on the 730 metre section of Merrigang Street between Jasmine and Albert Streets in Bowral.

This construction work will be completed in two phases to minimise disruption and inconvenience to road users and neighbouring properties.

  • Phase 1 – Construction of stormwater drainage pipe and pits,
  • Phase 2 – Road pavement reconstruction plus footpath, kerb and gutter construction.

Construction activities for Phase 1 are scheduled to commence on Monday 16 March and are expected to be completed mid-April 2020.  Phase 2 works will commence after the Easter break.

Construction activities will be carried out between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm weekdays.

During construction, sections of the road may be temporarily reduced to one-way traffic. The road will however remain open to through traffic with property access being maintained.

Road users are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.

Council thanks residents and motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary delays or inconvenience.

Works are expected to be completed by the end of June 2020.  All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.
