Planned shutdown of Moss Vale water supply on Tuesday 24 July

20 July, 2012

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that it will be conducting essential upgrades to the Moss Vale water service on Tuesday 24 Julythat may result in temporary disruption to the water supply to isolated areas.

The temporary disruption is necessary in order for Council staff to undertake a bulk water meter installation.

The new water meters will allow staff to more accurately monitor for signs of leakage in the Moss Vale catchment area and aid in reducing incidents of water loss.

Residents surrounding Narellen, Young, Fitzroy, Illawarra and Nowra Roads and Hazelton, Farnborough, Watkins and Woodside Drives, Keighley and Northcott Places, Nari Circuit, Windsor Close, Fairfax Land and Tudor Close (including Tudor House School) will all be affected by the temporary disruption.

The work is scheduled to begin at 9.00am on Tuesday 24 July and conclude at approximately 3.00pm.

Residents of the affected areas are advised to ensure hot water heaters and washing machines are NOT used and taps are turned off during this scheduled interruption of water supply.

A mobile water tanker will be used in the area to minimise disruption.

Once water supply is returned, Council recommends turning a cold water tap on slowly allowing any trapped air to escape. If the water is discoloured on reconnection, Council recommends running the tap nearest to the water meter at full flow until cleared.

Council apologises for any inconvenience.
