Old Bowral Road re-opens
Wingecarribee Shire Council re-opened Old Bowral Road to traffic yesterday afternoon.
A section of Old Bowral Rd was closed on the 2nd September due to the collapse of a very old stormwater piped culvert five metres below the road surface. The culvert collapsed causing subsidence of the road surface.
Rectification works included stabilising the old culvert with concrete and constructing a new 900mm diameter pipe culvert further along old Bowral Rd. Subsidence of the road surface has been repaired, road shoulders trimmed and the roadside table drains cleared.
Further geotechnical investigation are planned to assess future risks, structural integrity and possible future works on the road embankment which stand up to 5metres tall.
Council apologises for any inconvenience during the five week closure.
