Mittagong and Welby water main replacement

20 August, 2020

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that water main renewal works will commence in Welby and Mittagong from Monday 24 August 2020.

These works may cause temporary discolouration of water to properties west of Bessemer Street and north of the train line.  Should this occur residents are advised to slowly turn on a tap to let any air escape and run the tap for a few minutes until the water clears.

The works will involve replacing the old cast iron water main along the Old Hume Highway between the Hume Motorway and Lyell Street in Mittagong.

The majority of the works will be undertaken in the road reserve and while every effort will be made to minimise traffic impacts, some minor disruptions may occur.

Hours of construction will be 7.00am to 5.00pm weekdays. Traffic management arrangements will be in place during construction hours.

Works will be undertaken by specialist contractor Killard Infrastructure with the project expected to be completed by the end of November 2020.  All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.
