Formal proposal lodged for Burradoo River Park

24 April, 2012

A Planning Proposal for an Aged Care Facility and Leisure and Cultural Centre at Burradoo River Park was formally lodged with Wingecarribee Shire Council on 29 February 2012.

The Wongabri development for a major leisure and arts centre was first brought to Council’s attention in 2007 when a similar proposal was formally made. This proposal was eventually rejected by the NSW Department of Planning on a number of planning grounds.

Proposed concepts and alternatives were presented to Councillors in an information session held on 18 April 2012. Further details are still to be provided to Council before the proposal will be considered by staff and recommendations are reported to Council.

Should the proposal be supported by Council, it will be formally lodged with the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure and if it receives the Department’s support, it will be placed on public exhibition for community comment.
