Council clarifies its role regarding Bundanoon Railway Station

25 October, 2013

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to clarify comments that were raised at last night’s community meeting organised by the Bundanoon Community Association regarding the proposed Accessibility Upgrade at Bundanoon Railway Station.

As the proposed construction comes under the State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP) Infrastructure 2007, Transport for NSW, as an agency of the NSW State Government, is the governing body responsible for this project. Wingecarribee Shire Council has no jurisdiction in the approval of such works.

Because this project comes under State authority, it does not require a Development Application or other approvals from Council. An Environmental Impact Assessment for the Bundanoon Accessibility Upgrade Ramp was prepared and approved under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment (EP&A) Act.

Proposals managed by State agencies usually only come to Council as a courtesy for Council to comment on.

Any works associated with the project, including community consultation, comes under the jurisdiction of Transport for NSW.
