Changed traffic conditions at Merrigang Street and Old South Road

18 May, 2023

We’re moving to the next stage of a new and improved local road network.

As major construction continues along Old South Road, expect some changes to traffic conditions at the intersection of Old South Road and Merrigang Street.

From Monday 22 May, Old South Road will be closed to northbound traffic from Merrigang Street through to Range Road. Motorists heading south will be able to turn right from Merrigang Street towards the roundabout.

Council’s Acting Director Service and Project Delivery, Pav Kuzmanovski, explained the stage two works coincided with the completion of the Station Street Renewal project.

“Council is committed to building smoother streets and providing an improved road network,” he said. “We appreciate that Old South Road is a vital distributor road for the Shire, and now that Bowral’s Station Street Renewal project is ending, we’re about to start on the southern end from Range Road to Merrigang Street.”

Works will involve road pavement widening and rehabilitation, installation of guardrails, construction of stormwater pits and pipes, and other associated works.

Once complete, the project will provide improved traffic flow, a safer and smoother ride for motorists and easier access between residential areas and town centres. View the progress video here.
