Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Resource Recovery Centre has been voted best Local Government recycler in the state by the New South Wales Environment Protection Authority.

The award was published in the June issue of ‘Inside waste’ trade magazine and was based on information gathered during the 2010-11 financial year.

“The award is vindication that the staff here at the Resource Recovery Centre are committed to recycling excellence,” said Council’s Resource Recovery Centre Operations Supervisor, Andrew Leslie. “It’s also proof that our facility really is punching above its weight.”

Liverpool, North Sydney and Camden Councils followed Wingecarribee Shire’s winning lead.

The statistics were based on kerbside, clean-up and drop-off materials with Council’s 77.4% recycling percentage rate well above the state average of 46.5%.

Council’s award winning Resource Recovery Centre is located on Berrima Road, Moss Vale and is open 7.00am to 3.45pm seven days a week.
