Wingecarribee Shire Council is inviting the community to help develop bush fire management plans for bushland reserves in Berrima, Medway, Yerrinbool and Hill Top.

Council is facilitating two community meetings and is encouraging all interested residents to come along and discuss important fire management issues in these areas and to learn more about fire planning and preparedness.

The first meeting will be held in Berrima for bushland reserves in Berrima and Medway on Monday 13 May 2013 from 7pm to 9pm at the Anglican Church Hall.

The second meeting will be held in Yerrinbool for bushland reserves in Yerrinbool and Hill Top on Tuesday 14 May 2013 from 7pm to 9pm at the Yerrinbool Community Centre, corner of Everest Street and Sunrise Road.

Light supper will be provided at both meetings.

The workshops will be facilitated by Rod Rose and Julie Holden from Eco Logical Australia (ELA). These specialist bushfire management consultants have been engaged to develop a bushfire management plan which will guide Council’s actions within the reserves.

Community input at this first stage of plan preparation will be valuable in ensuring the plans capture important local knowledge.

Another opportunity to comment will be provided once the draft plan is placed on public exhibition.

Please RSVP to Wingecarribee Shire Council on (02) 4868 0888 by Friday 10 May 2013 if you would like to attend.
