Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Councillor Duncan Gair is urging local community groups to apply for funding under the annual Wingecarribee ClubsGrants Scheme.

“I encourage all local not-for-profit community organisations across the Shire to take advantage of this scheme and apply for essential funding,” he said.

Under the scheme, which is the result of approximately 500 clubs across NSW voluntarily allocating funds to assist local community and sporting groups within their respective Local Government Areas, not-for-profit community groups may apply for funding for local projects that fall within the four priority areas of Older people, Young people, People with a disability and Addressing disadvantage.

“Whilst Wingecarribee only has a relatively small grants program, we encourage all interested parties to submit an application regardless of the size of their project,” said Councillor Gair.

Under the scheme, local not-for-profit community organisations across the Shire can apply for up to $5000 in funding.

“The 2015 Wingecarribee ClubsGrants Scheme really is a fantastic opportunity for community groups to raise the profile of their group or project which may otherwise struggle to get off the ground,” the Mayor said.

“The Mittagong RSL and the Moss Vale Services Club are to be congratulated for their continued support of funding this scheme in our Shire,” he said.

“Because ultimately, all the projects funded are for the betterment of the entire community.”

Application forms can be found online at: www.clubsnsw.com.au/community/clubgrants/for-applicants.

Successful projects will be selected by the committee based on criteria, eligibility and ultimate funding.

The Wingecarribee ClubsGrants Scheme is open until Friday 15 May 2015.
