Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Councillor Larry Whipper has today congratulated the recipients of the Southern Highlands Local Business Awards.

Announced last night the awards recognise outstanding businesses across the Shire and the role they play in promoting the Highlands community.

“The evening was a tremendous success with businesses of all sizes from across our Shire represented,” the Mayor said.

A total of 32 awards were presented including the coveted Business of the Year which went to Highlands Property.

“Whilst all the awards were equally important I was particularly proud to be able to present the award for Environmental Sustainability,” Councillor Whipper said.

“This award went to Tammie Ash from Exclusive Hair & Beauty which proves you don’t have to be a big multinational corporation to showcase clean and clever environmentally sustainable initiatives to run your business.”

In addition to the award for Environmental Sustainability, Council also sponsored the awards for Youth and Antiques, Arts, Crafts and Gifts.

“I’d like to congratulate all the winners and nominees of this year’s Southern Highlands Local Business Awards for the wonderful work they do in driving our region’s economy and for showcasing our homegrown products, skills and customer service,” the Mayor added.

Councillor Whipper was joined by Deputy Mayor Councillor Ian Scandrett representing Council.

The 2015 Southern Highlands Local Business Awards were held at the Mittagong RSL Club and attended by almost 500 people.
