Need fresh motivation for maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle? Try the new, next-level fitness facilities at Moss Vale Aquatic Centre, now offering a private and spacious fitness room, with ceiling-to-floor windows letting in lots of natural light, 24/7 gym access, and in a first for the region, a state-of-the-art, fully accessible adult change area.

Extensive upgrades to the popular fitness facility were quickly completed in just 14 weeks! Customers have expressed amazement that the transformation happened without disruption to regular classes.

“It was so well done, we loved being able to carry on with our group fitness sessions while watching it all take shape,” says program participant, Nicci Scrivener.

Among the many locals making the most of the new fitness features, disability and aged-care specialists Interchange Australia have wasted no time in treating the people they support to the experience. “Staying active is vital to the wellbeing of the locals we work with. For some, coming here is their only opportunity for physical exercise.”  says Interchange Australia carer, Angela Smith. “We’re so excited to now have this incredible adult change area around the corner. It means we can continue bringing people here throughout the cooler months, and when its raining, because there’s somewhere for them to shower and change into warm, dry clothing before we walk them home.”

The only accessible change area of its kind in the region, it will be a welcome addition for anyone living with a disability, who can now plan their travel to stop-in at Moss Vale and use this facility.

“You can see the excitement on their faces today, it means a lot to know the community has prioritised integrating something so inclusive for them, into the upgrade.” Angela said during her clients’ first visit.

The Interchange Team expect to now be bringing more locals living with a disability to the centre on a daily basis.

Also new is a designated Multipurpose Program Room for classes and group sessions, designed for greater privacy, with a leafy outlook and flooded with natural light.

“We absolutely love the whole feel of the space, it’s light and bright with great acoustics, which helps to stay energised, and a calming outlook makes it easy to relax into a wellbeing mindset,” Nicci said.

Venue Manager Sarah Holz says customers have been amazed with the transformation.

“Best of all, they can now access the gym 24/7, giving local business owners, shift workers and mums & dads greater flexibility for keeping up their fitness and wellbeing at times that work for them.” There is no extra cost for the after-hours access. It’s all included in your membership!

Recognising the importance of sporting and fitness facilities across our shire for local sporting clubs and residents, Council contributed $260,000 toward the extensive improvements. This was in addition to $589,000 in grant funding secured by Blue Fit, managing agents of Moss Vale Aquatic Centre, under the NSW Regional Sport Facility Fund.

“Guided by our Aquatic Centre operator, industry leading an progressive leisure-management group Blue Fit, these improvements were in response to increased community demand for participation in fitness and wellbeing programs.” Says WSC Manager Shire Presentation Greg Bray. “Providing our shire and the surrounding region with a multi-purpose space that offers a fully accessible and inclusive changing places facility, and allied health co-located services, is aligned with our commitment to breaking down barriers to participation and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to enjoy better health and wellbeing.”
