Wingecarribee Shire Council has today closed all Council-managed sports fields scheduled for Saturday 8 May following continued heavy overnight rain.

The closure affects all Council-managed sports fields across the Shire for Saturday only and is effective immediately.

The temporary closure does not affect the Welby Hockey Centre or Eridge Park Netball court facilities which remain open with a caution.

A further assessment will be undertaken late Friday 7 May to reassess conditions for possible recommencement of Sunday play.

Council is also responding to the impact the heavy rain has had on roads and drainage infrastructure by re-diverting all operational crews to assist with potential drainage and stormwater issues.  Crews will remain on stand-by over the weekend to monitor local conditions and respond to incoming calls of assistance.
