Wingecarribee Shire Council is offering residents the opportunity to dispose of branches and trees brought down by this week’s high winds free of charge at the Resource Recovery Centre until 4pm Sunday 10 July.

Local residents wishing to take advantage of this offer must bring proof of identification when dropping off the debris in order to illustrate local residency.

“Given the amount of debris, broken branches and trees that have been scattered throughout the Shire as a result of the ongoing high winds, Council is hoping to assist residents in their efforts to clean up by offering the free disposal of wind related garden waste at the depot until Sunday,” said Wingecarribee Shire Council Business Services Manager, Peter Bowmer.

“The free offer is not available to commercial operators while normal charges will apply for all other types of garden waste.

“It is also important to remember that Council’s free offer will only apply to green waste that has been a result of wind damage. It will not include grass clippings.”

Residents who dropped off wind damaged material on Wednesday 6 July should bring their receipt to Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre for a full refund. Reimbursements will be mailed to residents.

Food spoilt due to power outages should be dumped in Council’s regular household waste collection bins.

Council’s Resource Recovery Centre is located on Berrima Road, Moss Vale and is open 7.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 4.00pm weekends.
