Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling on artists to help celebrate Moss Vale and Bowral’s upcoming sesquicentenary celebrations by commissioning a major public art project.

Council’s Cultural Development Officer, Jenny Kena explained the project.

“A host of events are being planned for both towns to help celebrate their 150 birthday milestones next year.

“One of the major initiatives planned to commemorate this celebration is the commissioning of a public art project,” Ms Kena said.

“The commission can be for either one work in one location that refers to both Moss Vale and Bowral, or two works, one in each town.”

All public art works in the Wingecarribee Shire are to be undertaken with reference to Council’s Public Art Policy and Guidelines.

“We think these public art projects are a wonderful opportunity for both the successful artist to showcase their works and for the public to have a permanent reminder of Moss Vale and Bowral’s historic milestones,” Ms Kena added.

Expressions of Interest close on 31 May 2012.
