Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from Studios and Artists to participate in the 2011 Southern Highlands Art Studio Trail.

The Art Studio Trail will run across the Shire during the first three weekends of November as part of the Days of Wine Arts and Roses Festival.

Council’s Cultural Development Officer, Jenny Kena said the 2011 event had been expanded due to the success of last year’s Trail.

“We’ve added an extra weekend to the Art Studio Trail to allow patrons the opportunity to spend more time at each studio,” she said.

Last year each studio averaged more than 100 visits during the program.

Northern-based studios will open for the first and second weekend of the event whilst southern-based studios will open on the second and third weekends.

All participating artists and studios must be located in the Wingecarribee Shire.

“The Art Studio Trail gives the public a rare opportunity to meet the makers, to see their work in the environment within which it was created and to buy direct from the studio door”.

The Days of Wine Arts and Roses Festival runs from 1 November to 21 November each year. In addition to the Art Trail, the Festival also promotes local gardens, wineries, galleries and exhibitions.
