Draft Water Extraction Policy on exhibition
Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking comment from residents on its proposed draft Water Extraction Policy following endorsement from Councillors.
Council’s Manager of Water and Sewer, Jonathan Hook, explained the purpose of the draft policy.
“Across the Shire Council has installed a number of bulk water filling stations for access to our water supply,” Mr Hook said.
“These water filling stations are used by Council maintenance crews, licensed contractors and water suppliers to name a few.
“These filling stations were purpose-built to prevent water theft and minimise incidents of dirty water which can occur when people illegally tap into the water supply network using standpipes.”
“This draft policy details how Council proposes to manage the ongoing use of these water filling stations and ensure we continue to supply all of our Shire’s residents with safe, clean and reliable drinking water,” Mr Hook said.

Submissions and feedback close at 4.30pm on Wednesday 2 January 2019.
Following the close of the exhibition period, a final report considering submissions will be presented to Council.
