Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community after Council endorsed the public exhibition of its draft Stormwater Management Policy.

Council’s Director Service and Project Delivery, Ms Karin Targa detailed the purpose of the policy.

“Managing flood prone land and its associated stormwater infrastructure is a complex undertaking,” she said.

“As we’ve seen through recent heavy rainfall events, there are often multiple parties affected and different agencies involved with varying responsibilities when floods occur.”

Ms Targa said the draft policy provides both greater clarity on the responsibilities of Council, developers and property owners and details defined stormwater management standards.

“This will enable Council to improve the way in which it deals with stormwater issues and help to minimise any potential disagreements between stakeholders,” Ms Targa added.

The Administrator endorsed the public exhibition of the draft Stormwater Management Policy at Council’s Ordinary Meeting of Wednesday 20 July 2022.
