Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking comment from the community after Council endorsed the public exhibition of its draft Former Employees Dealing with Council Policy.

Council’s Director Corporate Strategy and Resourcing, Ms Carmel Foster explained the purpose of the draft policy.

“The Administrator has previously raised concerns about the perceived need for residents to retain the services of former Council staff to navigate the so-called complexities surrounding Council procedures,” she said.

“The development application department was one particular area highlighted by the Administrator.”

Ms Foster said the draft policy in no way questioned the integrity or professionalism of existing or former Council employees.

“The purpose of this policy is to improve openness and transparency,” she said.

For the purposes of the draft policy a former employee is defined as a ‘person who was a staff member of Council within the previous three years of the adoption of the draft policy.’

The Administrator endorsed the public exhibition of the draft Former Employees Dealing with Council Policy at Council’s Ordinary Meeting of Wednesday 21 September 2022.

The draft policy will be on exhibition for a period of 28 days starting Friday 14 October 2022.
