Council’s Movember mob smash expectations
Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Movember fundraisers The Dirty Dozen minus one have smashed their original fundraising goal and in the process have raised over $2,000 towards men’s health campaigns.
In total the eleven Council employees from the Moss Vale Civic Centre raised$2025 dollars which will be donated towards beyondblue and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Council’s Movember Team Captain Carwyn Sheppard paid tribute to all team participants.
“The boys who participated did a fantastic job, not just in the growing of some splendid soup-strainers but in the enthusiasm they put behind the fundraising activities,” he said.
Some events that The Dirty Dozen minus one undertook to raise the record amount included holding staff barbeques, raffles and even auctioning off their very own Mr Movember calendar.
“And whilst the majority of funds came from our own staff members, we received some generous donations from the public which we’re very grateful for,” Carwyn said.
The success of this year’s campaign has some members even contemplating giving it another shot next year.
“Whilst all of the lads have promised to shave their lip rugs as soon as they can, some of them are already talking up the possibility of giving it another go next year,” Carwyn said.
“That is of course if our wives and girlfriends let us.”
