Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking comment from residents on its revised Community Engagement Strategy.

The revised strategy details how Council proposes to engage and communicate with the community on issues and projects of public interest.

Council’s Group Manager Corporate and Community, Danielle Lidgard, explained why the strategy was being revised.

“Our Community Engagement Strategy was first introduced several years ago,” she said.  “And like all our corporate strategies, it’s necessary to review them on a regular basis to ensure they remain up-to-date and relevant.”

Councillors unanimously agreed to place the draft revised strategy on public exhibition at Council’s Ordinary Meeting of 25 September.

“Some of the amendments in this revision include legislative requirements and updated statistical data that have changed since the strategy was first adopted by Council in 2014,” Ms Lidgard said.

“This coincides with a new requirement of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 for councils to outline community participation for land use planning matters.”

The revised Community Engagement Strategy will be on public exhibition from today until 6 November 2019.

To view a copy of the revised strategy visit www.yoursaywingecarribee.com.au/community-engagement-strategy or view in person at Council’s libraries and Civic Centre.

Submissions can be made online or in writing addressed to Wingecarribee Shire Council, PO Box 141 Moss Vale 2577 or alternatively by email at mail@wsc.nsw.gov.au.

Submissions and feedback close at 9 am on Wednesday 6 November 2019.

Following the close of the exhibition period, a final report considering submissions will be presented to Council.
