Wingecarribee Shire Council’s draft Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy has been formally adopted following support by Council’s Interim Administrator, Viv May PSM.

Adopted at Wednesday 13 October’s Ordinary Meeting of Council, the policy details the roles and responsibilities of councillors and Council staff and provides guidelines on interaction.

Mr May said the policy set clearly defined parameters for the incoming Council.

“This policy provides guidelines for councillors and Council staff on how to establish positive, effective and professional working relationships,” he said.

“It’s based around mutual respect and courtesy for each other’s respective roles,” Mr May added.

“I am confident that when embraced by both parties a supportive and collaborative environment will ensue.”

The Interim Administrator cited the policy as another step towards re-establishing openness and transparency and restoring the community’s trust in Council’s decision-making processes.
