Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager Jason Gordon has today announced that Nick Wilton will take up the recently vacated position of Manager of Development Services.

“We look forward to working with Nick who brings with him a wealth of experience to the role,” Mr Gordon said.

Mr Wilton is the Planning and Development Services Manager from Narrabri Shire Council. Responsibilities of his current portfolio include management of statutory and strategic planning, building certification, compliance, environmental health and asset maintenance and renewal.

Prior to his Narrabri posting, Mr Wilton worked for the City of Newcastle within the City Strategy Group. He has completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Human Geography and Planning and is nearing completion of a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning.

“Nick has had exposure to both semi-metro and country council issues,” Mr Gordon said. “Something I believe will be of huge benefit to our Shire and its residents.”

“Key responsibilities within his new role will include management of development applications, building applications, health inspections and ranger services,” Mr Gordon said. “With particular emphasis on customer and client service.”

Mr Gordon also paid tribute to outgoing incumbent, Les Pawlak.

“On behalf of Council we sincerely wish Les and his family the very best for the future in his semi-retirement,” Mr Gordon said.

Mr Pawlak served two separate stints at Wingecarribee Shire Council, the most recent since 2007.

“His professionalism, work ethic, camaraderie and friendship will be missed by colleagues and staff.”

Mr Wilton is scheduled to take up the Manager of Development Services position at the end of May.
