Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling on residents to help guide the Shire’s future, following unanimous support by councillors for a multi-phased engagement strategy to review the Community Strategic Plan Wingecarribee 2031+.

The first stage of the review will involve a random telephone and online survey.

The telephone and on-line surveys will be carried out by Micromex Research between 17 October and 20 November.  The on-line survey is intended to reach residential customers, business owners and community organisations.

“We want as many people to participate in this review and share their thoughts,” Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager Ann Prendergast said.  “Community input into this review is vital.”

The Community Strategic Plan is the pre-eminent planning document for the Shire and details the community’s long-term vision for the region.

“Council’s Community Strategic Plan is one of most important documents for our Shire,” Ms Prendergast said.

“While Council is responsible for developing and reviewing the Plan, its implementation is a shared responsibility.

“Other partners such as State agencies and community groups have a role in delivering the long-term objectives of the Plan,” the General Manager said.

Wingecarribee 2031+ was adopted in 2010 following extensive community engagement as the first community strategic plan for the Wingecarribee Shire.

“Only with feedback from our Shire’s residents, community groups and other agencies will we get a genuine picture of the priorities and aspirations that matter most to our local community.”

Further opportunities to contribute to the plan will be provided in early 2017.
