Wingecarribee Shire Council is inviting members of the community to attend a series of interactive displays, dubbed ‘Park Talks’, to discuss the proposed refurbishment of Bowral’s Corbett Gardens.

Council’s Building Assets Coordinator Chris Richmond explained the rationale behind the Park Talks.

“Corbett Gardens is one of our Shire’s favourite public spaces,” he said.  “It’s also one of our oldest.”

“Just like all our public assets, we have to continually maintain and improve the Gardens as they age to ensure they can be enjoyed for many years to come.

“And because Corbett Gardens are visited by so many people, we thought it only fair everyone has the opportunity to have a say in how they’d like to see the Park look and feel in the future,” Mr Richmond added.

The first Park Talk will be held on Saturday 13 June 2015 from 10am to 1pm at the Bong Bong Street end of Corbett Plaza.

The second will be held on Wednesday 17 June from 10am to 1pm in Corbett Gardens and the final, on Friday 19 June 2015 from 12.30pm to 3.30pm again at the Bong Bong Street end of Corbett Plaza.

The meetings will feature displays and interactive activities with Council officers on hand to answer questions.

“The Park Talks are an opportunity for guests to tell us what they’d like to see in Corbett Gardens,” Mr Richmond said.

“Perhaps they have some ideas or suggestions they think would be a great inclusion.”

An additional Public Hearing and Workshop to discuss the Park’s restrictions and requirements will be held on Saturday 20 June 2015 in Corbett Gardens.

“Ultimately, Corbett Gardens is for everyone to enjoy so we want to make sure that as many people as possible have input on how they’d like to see the Park grow.”
