Organisers of the 2022 Southern Highlands Festival of Lights have hailed the Christmas spectacular a success following the close of the month-long celebrations.

Festival of Lights Creative Director Michaela Bolzan said community feedback had been overwhelming.

“Seeing people dancing, singing and laughing in Corbett Garden’s was such a joyous moment for me,” she said.  “It really represented the essence of the Festival and gave a sense of hope and happiness.”

Ms Bolzan said thousands of patrons attended the multiple events held across the month of December.

“We had great support from locals and visitors alike from the Opening Night Concert right through to the Home Grown New Year’s Eve finale,” she said.

“We wish to thank everyone who came out and supported all the celebrations.”

Council’s Coordinator Tourism and Events Libby Bain said the Festival of Lights was quickly becoming one of the Shire’s most anticipated annual events.

“The holiday season is a very popular time to catch up with family and friends and the festival of Lights provided a unique experience for our community and those visiting from outside the region.”

“Council thanks all our Shire’s business owners and generous sponsors who embraced the event and ensured its success.

“We also thank all the hard-working staff from Council, our contract partners, charity workers and volunteers who came together to create such a wonderful and festive community spirit.”
