Wingecarribee Shire Council will be taking its office back on the road in 2012 and visiting the residents of Wingello and Penrose on Wednesday 15 February as part of its mobile roadshow.

Council’s General Manager, Jason Gordon said the roadshow – or Information Kiosk – was an opportunity for residents to ask questions of Council without having to visit the Moss Vale Civic Centre.

“Staff from numerous departments will be on hand to answer questions about a whole range of Council services.

“Engineers, Planners, Rangers, Customer and Community Service Officers will be in attendance to answer any specific Council related queries residents may have.

“Based on the feedback we received from residents who attended the kiosks in Bundanoon, Burrawang, Balmoral and Canyonleigh in 2011, we’ve agreed to continue with the concept again this year,” Mr Gordon said.

The idea of the one-stop-shop grew from community feedback received during preparation of Wingecarribee 2031+, Council’s long-term community plan for the Southern Highlands.

“This initiative is a direct response from residents who told us they wanted Council to be more actively involved in the community.

“The Information Kiosk is one method we are using to become more accessible and visible to the public. Each month we will be visiting a different town or village in the Shire,” Mr Gordon said.

The Wingello Information Kiosk will be held at the Wingello Mechanics Hall on Wednesday 15 February from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Councillors have been invited to attend from 5pm. Residents are welcome to drop in during the kiosk hours but are encouraged to RSVP prior by calling 4868 0761 to ensure appropriate Council staff are on hand to answer their queries.

Further Information Kiosks are scheduled as follows:

  • Colo Vale Wednesday 21 March 2012
  • Avoca Wednesday 18 April 2012
