Wingecarribee Shire residents are advised that Council will be offering a free disposal service for unwanted televisions between Monday, 23 July and Sunday, 19 August 2012.

Since the analog signal switch-off on June 5 there has been an increased demand to get rid of old television sets, which usually cost $41.50 to drop off at Council’s Resource Recovery Centre. This charge supplements the cost incurred by Council to dispose of the televisions in an environmentally friendly way.

The surrender program will allow one television per household to be dropped off for free at the Resource Recovery Centre in Moss Vale, until the maximum capacity of 1200 is reached.

Due to the high demand expected for this service, residents must:

  • Contact Council on mobile 0409 579 104 between 2 July and 13 July, 9am – 3pm, to register their interest. A letter will then be sent to the household.
  • Bring the letter with its unique barcode and your unwanted TV to theResource Recovery Centre located at 177 Berrima Road, Moss Vale between 7am and 3.45pm during the week allocated to you.

Disposal of booked televisions will commence on 23 July and finish on 19 August.

The Resource Recovery Centre is unable to accept free drop offs without a valid booking.
