Wingecarribee Shire Council has today announced it will extend its free Shire-wide kerbside collection of storm damage green waste until the end of the week.

Bookings for the free kerbside collection can be made by phoning Council on phone 4868 0888, via email at: wscmail@wsc.nsw.gov.auor by visiting the Moss Vale Civic Centre during business hours.

Booking for the collection must be made by 4.30pm on Friday 22 July.

The collection only applies to storm damage green waste as of result of the initial windstorm which struck the Shire on Tuesday 5 July.

All windstorm debris should be stockpiled on the front kerb.

Only storm damaged green waste will be collected such as branches and tree limbs. Any branches tied in bunches should be secured with natural fibres such as twine. Bags of leaf litter and grass clippings will not be collected and under no circumstances will Council staff enter private property to collect the green waste.

“Due to the amount of damage sustained across the Shire, and recognising that the storm occurred during school holidays when some residents were away, Council will extend its kerbside collection for another week,” said Council’s Acting Director of Infrastructure Services, Dominic Lucas.

“At this time we can’t supply any timeframes for individual collections but we will be doing our utmost to ensure they are carried out as swiftly as possible.

“Due to the widespread severity of the storm, we can only guarantee one pick up per customer.

“Consequently, we ask residents to book only after they’ve stockpiled all their green storm waste,” Mr Lucas said.

Residents experiencing difficulty removing debris are advised to contact the SES on 132 500.

Council’s Resource Recovery Centre is located on Berrima Road, Moss Vale and is open 7.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 4.00pm weekends.
