Wingecarribee Shire Council in partnership with Arts Law is set to host a series of legal workshops designed to support the professional development of artists and arts organisations.

Workshops will be held over Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 June 2018 in Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre.

Council’s Cultural Development Officer Jenny Kena explained that the workshops will cover topics relevant to artists and arts organisations, especially those working in the visual arts.

“Whether you make art just for pleasure or you want to make money from your work, these workshops will help with a wide range of arts-related legal and business issues,” she said.

The workshops will be facilitated by Suzanne Derry, the Senior Solicitor at the Arts Law Centre of Australia and will explore common legal issues including copyright, contracts, social media, collaboration and cultural issues.

Participants can attend all or just the one session that interests them. Local residents who register can also nominate to attend a free one-on-one legal clinic.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to address any specific concerns they may have,” added Ms Kena.
