Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for information from residents who may have witnessed any persons damaging structures in Mount Gibraltar Reserve.

Council’s Asset Planner for Parks and Buildings, Michelle Green, said the most recent incident occurred over the weekend of the 23 and 24 June.

“Volunteers from the Mount Gibraltar Landcare Bushcare Group arrived after the weekend to discover vandals had climbed over a wall and unbolted structural steel supports to remove locational signage from the Jellore lookout,” she said.

As part of another recent act, vandals used a blowtorch to remove a heritage brass sundial installed by the Rotary Club in the 1960s.

“I’d ask the persons responsible to consider the impact of their actions on the community and return the sundial,” Ms Green added.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Southern Highlands Police on phone 4869 7899.
