Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for information from residents who may have witnessed any persons damaging structures and garden beds in Bowral’s Corbett Gardens.

Council’s Head Gardner Rod McTernan said the most recent incident occurred over the weekend of the 3 and 4 June.

“Our staff arrived after the weekend to discover several of our gardens beds had been destroyed and the rotunda had been vandalised,” he said.

Several security screens protecting the garden beds had also been damaged in the process.

“While it’s not uncommon to find some sort of damage to the gardens, it’s becoming increasingly frustrating for staff that have to constantly fix the damage,” Rod said.

“It takes the team away from other duties and ultimately costs the community to mend these damages.”

As part of the recent damage vandals uprooted plants designed as part of this year’s upcoming Tulip Time displays and threw them onto the roof of the bandstand rotunda.

“I’d ask the persons responsible to take a good hard look at themselves and think twice about their actions,” Rod added.

“There’s absolutely no excuse for this type of behaviour.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Bowral Police on 4862 9299 or Wingecarribee Shire Council on phone 4868 0888.
