Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) have informed that they will be closing the rail overbridge at Mount Murray from Friday 14 November 2014 to allow for the construction of a new bridge.

Located west of the junction with the Illawarra Highway atop Macquarie Pass, through-access to Tourist Road will be closed to allow the ARTC to replace the existing bridge which has reached the end of its serviceable life.

As part of the works the existing bridge will be dismantled and a new wider precast reinforced concrete girder bridge will be built in its place.  The deck of the bridge will also be surfaced in bitumen and the approaches will also be regraded and widened.

John Holland Rail (JHR) will manage the construction of the bridge which spans the Moss Vale to Unanderra railway line on behalf of the Australian Rail Track Corporation.

During the construction traffic heading down the coast will be diverted through Robertson via Kirkland and Kangaloon Roads.

The bridge is scheduled to reopen to traffic in April 2015.
